Today, on this 8th day of October, I am reminded of our unchanging God and His abundant grace that sustains us daily. As we read in Lamentations 3:22-23, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
In our ever-changing world, it is comforting to know that God's love and grace remain constant. Just as John Calvin wrote in his Institutes of the Christian Religion, "There is no doubt that grace goes before, accompanies, and follows our salvation, so that the whole is of God and not of us."
Charles Spurgeon, in his sermon on "The Grace of God," said, "Grace is the very foundation of our salvation, and if that foundation were removed, our hopes would utterly perish." Indeed, it is by God's grace alone that we are saved, not by our own works or merits (Ephesians 2:8-9).
As we go about our day, let us remember to extend this grace to others. As Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:7, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." Let us show kindness and compassion to those around us, reflecting the grace that God has shown us.
Let us also remember to pray for one another. As we read in James 5:16, "The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." May we lift each other up in prayer, seeking God's grace and mercy in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
In closing, let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unchanging grace and love. We are grateful that Your mercies are new every morning. Help us to extend this grace to others and to reflect Your love in our actions. We pray for each other, asking for Your grace and mercy in our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
