Title: Do Not Be Afraid, For I Am With You
Scripture: Jeremiah 1:8

Jeremiah was a young man when God called him to speak hard words to hard people. He saw himself as only a boy, unable to speak well, and the job looked impossible. God's answer was not "Try harder" or "Believe in yourself." It was "Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you." The promise is not success, comfort, or popularity, but presence. God commits to stay beside His messenger no matter how fierce the opposition gets.

The word "them" in this verse means the kings, priests, and ordinary people of Judah who would hate Jeremiah's message. They would plot, mock, imprison, and try to silence him. God never says the threats will disappear. He says, "I will be present in the middle of the threats, and I will bring you through alive." The promise is not escape from trouble but survival through trouble because God stands between His servant and final harm.

This same promise carries into the New Testament. Jesus tells the Twelve, "I am with you always, to the end of the age." Paul asks, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" The pattern is steady: God calls weak people, gives them a hard task, and guarantees His own presence. The fear does not leave because the task gets easier; it leaves because God gets bigger in the worker's sight.

You may never face a king's court or a dungeon, but you will face angry coworkers, skeptical relatives, or a culture that sneers at biblical truth. When you speak up for the unborn, refuse to join the gossip, or invite a neighbor to church, the same "them" shows up. The stomach knots, the mouth goes dry, and the mind races. In that moment the Spirit brings this verse back: "Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you." The deliverance may look like calm words, changed hearts, or simply the strength to keep standing. The method varies; the presence does not.

Fear is natural, but fear must not drive. Let it alert you to pray, to prepare, and to lean on the promise. Tell yourself the truth: "I am not alone in this conversation, this meeting, this hospital room. The Lord who sent me stands here now." Then open your mouth or take the next obedient step. The outcome is God's part; the presence is yours to enjoy.

Prayer: Lord, we are ordinary people who feel small when the room turns hostile. Thank You for promising Your presence, not painless success. Make us brave today because You stand beside us. Deliver us from fear of people and fix our eyes on You. Amen.
