Today, as we gather to reflect on God's Word, let us remember the unchanging truth found in 2 Corinthians 4:18, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
In a world that is constantly changing, where we often feel overwhelmed by the shifting sands of culture and society, we must anchor ourselves in the eternal truth of God's Word. This truth does not change with the times or bend to the whims of popular opinion. It stands firm, just as our God is unchanging (Malachi 3:6).
Just as the great reformed theologians of the past like John Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Spurgeon, and RC Sproul, we are called to stand firm on the Word of God. We are not to be swayed by the winds of change, but to be rooted in the truth that has been handed down to us through the ages.
In these times of uncertainty, let us remember the words of Psalm 119:89-90, "Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures."
Let us also be encouraged by the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
As we go about our day, let us fix our eyes on the eternal, not on the temporal. Let us be rooted in the Word of God, standing firm in the face of a changing world. And let us remember that we are not alone in this, for as Hebrews 13:8 tells us, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Let us close with a prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, in these times of change and uncertainty, help us to fix our eyes on the eternal. May we be rooted in Your Word, standing firm on the unchanging truth. Help us to be a light in this world, shining the truth of Your Word to all. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
