Title: Job's Restoration
Scripture: Job 42:10

Job has lost everything. His children are dead. His wealth is gone. His body is covered in sores. For thirty-seven chapters, he has cried out to God for answers. Then God speaks. He doesn't explain why Job suffered. Instead, He shows Job His power and wisdom. Job responds with repentance and faith.

Now comes the turning point. After Job prays for his friends, God restores his fortunes. The text says God gave Job twice as much as he had before. This wasn't because Job earned it. Grace doesn't work that way. God gives freely, not because we deserve it, but because He is good.

Notice what triggers the restoration. Job prays for his friends. These are the same friends who accused him of secret sin. They added to his pain with their false theology. Yet Job intercedes for them. This shows his heart has truly changed. He stops defending himself and starts caring for others.

The doubling of Job's blessings matters. In Scripture, double portions signify honor and restoration. God doesn't just return what was lost. He gives more. This points us to Christ, who brings not just earthly blessings but eternal life. In Him, we receive far more than we lost in Adam.

This doesn't mean every believer gets twice as much stuff. That's prosperity gospel nonsense. Job's story teaches us that God is sovereign over suffering and blessing. Sometimes He gives. Sometimes He takes. Both come from His hand. Both are for our good.

What does this mean for you? First, God sees your pain. Second, restoration comes in His timing, not yours. Third, the greatest blessing isn't material prosperity. It's knowing God Himself. Job says, "I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you." Everything else is extra.

Prayer: Lord, teach us to trust You when we have much and when we have little. Help us see that You Yourself are our greatest treasure. Give us grace to pray for those who hurt us, knowing You are the one who ultimately restores. Amen.
