Title: Dead to Sin, Alive to God
Scripture: Romans 6:9-11

Paul is answering the question every Christian asks: If God forgives all my sin, why stop sinning? His answer is blunt. Christ died and rose once for all. Death has no mastery over Him anymore. That means the power of sin, which brings death, is broken in Jesus.

Paul uses the word "know" twice. He is not giving a suggestion. He is stating facts you must grasp. Christ's death was a death to sin's control. His resurrection was a release into new life with God. These are not poetic ideas. They are historical events that change everything about you.

Paul then turns the telescope around. Since Christ's death and resurrection count for you, you must count yourselves dead to sin. This is not positive thinking. It is reckoning, like a banker marking accounts paid. Your old self was crucified with Christ. The person who loved sin and served sin is gone.

But Paul does not stop at death. He moves to life. The same power that raised Jesus now pumps through your veins. You are alive to God in Christ. That means your desires, your words, your schedule, your money, your body all belong to a new owner. You are not your own; you were bought with a price.

This changes how you fight temptation today. You do not try to be a better you. You remember the old you is dead. When porn beckons, you say, "That man is buried." When gossip whispers, you say, "That woman was crucified." You walk away, not by willpower, but by identity. You are alive to God. Act like it.

Prayer: Lord, we believe Your Word. Help us live like the old self is dead and the new life is real. When sin calls, remind us who we are in Jesus. Amen.
