I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we journey through this season of Advent, may our hearts be filled with anticipation and our minds fixed on the hope that Christ's birth brings to a weary world.
Today, I invite you to reflect on the unchanging nature of God in a world that is constantly changing. The prophet Malachi reminds us of this truth: "For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed" (Malachi 3:6).
In a world that is marked by impermanence and uncertainty, how comforting it is to know that our God is steadfast and unchanging! The God who called forth light from darkness at the dawn of creation (Genesis 1:3) is the same God who calls us out of our darkness into His marvelous light today (1 Peter 2:9).
As we look around us, we see a world that is rapidly changing. Technological advancements, cultural shifts, and global events all contribute to a sense of instability and unpredictability. Yet, in the midst of it all, we have an anchor that keeps our souls steadfast and sure. That anchor is the unchanging nature of God.
Our God is not only unchanging in His nature, but also in His promises. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), and to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). These promises, dear friends, are as sure and steadfast today as they were when they were first uttered.
So, as we navigate the complexities and uncertainties of this world, let us not be shaken or dismayed. Instead, let us find our rest and refuge in the unchanging God who is our light and our salvation (Psalm 27:1).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, in a world that is constantly changing, we thank You for being our unchanging God. Help us to trust in Your steadfast nature and to find our rest in Your unchanging promises. May Your light shine brightly in our hearts today, dispelling any darkness and uncertainty. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
