Title: Let God Handle It
Scripture: Psalm 37:5

David gives us a command that sounds simple but goes against every instinct we have: "Commit your way to the LORD." The Hebrew word for commit literally means to roll. Picture rolling a heavy burden off your shoulders and onto someone else. That's what David's talking about. We're not meant to carry the weight of our future, our plans, or our problems. We're meant to roll them onto the Lord.

This isn't passive resignation where we throw up our hands and give up. It's active trust. When you commit your way to the Lord, you're saying, "God, I trust Your wisdom more than my own. I trust Your timing more than my urgency. I trust Your plan more than my preferences." This means bringing your decisions, your fears, your hopes to Him in prayer. It means reading His Word to understand His will. It means obeying even when the path isn't clear.

The second part of the verse tells us why we can do this: "Trust also in Him." We commit our way to the Lord because He is trustworthy. He's not a cosmic vending machine who might malfunction. He's not a distant deity who might forget us. He's our faithful Father who knows what we need before we ask. He's the sovereign God who works all things for the good of those who love Him. When we trust Him, we're not taking a leap into the dark. We're stepping into the hands of the One who created light and darkness.

David adds a promise: "And He shall bring it to pass." God doesn't just receive our burdens. He actively works out His good purposes. This doesn't mean everything will go the way we want. It means everything will go the way God intends, and His intentions toward His people are always good. Sometimes He brings it to pass through trials that refine us. Sometimes through delays that teach us patience. Sometimes through doors closing so better ones can open. But He always brings it to pass.

This verse confronts our control addiction. We stay up late worrying because we think the world depends on our efforts. We get anxious because we think everything hinges on our decisions. But David says roll it onto the Lord. Your parenting? Roll it onto Him. Your career? Roll it onto Him. Your marriage? Your health? Your finances? Roll them all onto Him. Then trust Him to work. This doesn't mean you stop working or planning or caring. It means you work and plan and care with open hands, knowing the results belong to the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, we confess that we try to carry burdens You never meant for us to bear. Teach us to roll our ways onto You. Help us to trust Your character when we can't see Your hand. Give us peace as we release control and rest in Your faithful care. Amen.
