Title: Becoming Weak for the Weak
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:22

Paul says he became weak for the weak. That sounds strange. Why would anyone choose weakness? But Paul is talking about how he shares the gospel. He meets people where they are. He doesn't stand above them. He gets down on their level.

This is the opposite of what we usually do. We want to appear strong. We want people to see how smart we are, how spiritual we are, how together we are. But Paul says no. When he's with people who are struggling, he struggles with them. When he's with people who are hurting, he hurts with them. He doesn't quote Bible verses at them from a distance. He sits in the mess with them.

Think about Jesus. He left heaven's glory to be born in a stable. He got tired. He got hungry. He wept at gravesides. The strong became weak so weak people could become strong. That's what Paul is copying. He's not being fake. He's being like Christ. He's choosing to enter their world instead of demanding they enter his.

This means something for your daily life. When your coworker is going through a divorce, don't give them a lecture about biblical marriage. Listen to their pain. When your neighbor loses their job, don't tell them to have more faith. Take them out for coffee. Help them with their resume. Be weak with them. That's how people see Jesus.

The gospel spreads when God's people stop posturing and start serving. When we stop trying to impress and start trying to bless. You don't need all the answers. You need to be present. You need to care. That's what Paul did. That's what Christ did. And that's what we're called to do.

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for being strong when we should be weak. Give us courage to enter other people's pain instead of staying safe in our comfort. Make us like Paul, who became like the weak so they could meet You. Amen.
