Title: We Are God's Children Now
Scripture: 1 John 3:2

John writes something that should stop us in our tracks. We are God's children right now. Not someday. Not when we get our act together. Now. The moment you trust Christ, you receive a new identity that nothing can take away. Your bank account doesn't change it. Your past doesn't erase it. Your failures can't undo it.

But John doesn't stop there. He says we don't yet know what we shall be. That's honest. We know we're God's children, but we don't fully grasp what that means. We catch glimpses in Scripture. We see hints in Jesus' resurrection body. Yet the full reality remains hidden. This is why we walk by faith, not by sight. We trust God's promise even when we can't see the complete picture.

Here's what we do know. We shall be like Jesus. Not become gods. Not turn into some mystical beings. We shall be like Him. This means our resurrection bodies will be real bodies like His. Our characters will be perfected like His. Our hearts will be completely free from sin like His. Every weakness, every temptation, every dark thought will be gone forever. The transformation will be total.

John adds one more crucial detail. We shall see Jesus as He is. Right now we see through a glass dimly. We read about Jesus. We pray to Him. We sense His presence by the Spirit. But one day we will see Him face to face. No more questions. No more doubts. No more wondering if we're getting it right. When we see Him, we will know fully even as we are fully known.

This promise changes how we live today. When temptation comes, we remember who we are. We're not slaves to sin anymore. We're God's children. When discouragement hits, we remember who we're becoming. We shall be like Jesus. When life feels meaningless, we remember where we're headed. We will see Jesus as He is. These aren't just future blessings. They shape our identity right now.

The world offers plenty of identities. Successful professional. Devoted parent. Loyal friend. These aren't bad, but they're temporary. Your true identity is God's child. This identity can't be earned or lost. It comes through faith in Christ and lasts forever. Everything else in your life flows from this reality. You work hard because you're God's child, not to become one. You love others because He first loved you. You fight sin because that's not who you are anymore.

Prayer: Father, thank You for calling us Your children. Help us remember our true identity when the world tries to label us something else. Keep us hopeful as we wait to see Jesus and become like Him. Amen.
