Title: The Standard You Use
Scripture: Matthew 7:2

Jesus gives us a sobering principle here. The way we judge other people becomes the yardstick God uses on us. This is not a suggestion. It is a fixed law of the kingdom.

We like to make excuses for ourselves while holding others to strict account. We measure their motives harshly while giving ourselves the benefit of the doubt. Jesus says that habit will come back on us. The standard we apply to others becomes the one God applies to us.

Think about how you talk about people when they are not around. Do you assume the worst? Do you replay their mistakes? That critical spirit is forming the measure that will be used on you. God is not being petty. He is teaching us that grace received must become grace extended.

This does not mean we ignore sin or pretend everything is fine. Scripture tells us to confront error and protect the flock. But we must do it with humility, remembering our own frequent failures. The goal is restoration, not condemnation. When we remember how much patience God has shown us, we will show patience to others.

Start today. When you are tempted to judge someone's motives, stop. Pray for them instead. Speak to them directly if you must, but check your own heart first. The measure you use will be measured to you.

Prayer: Lord, we have received mercy beyond measure from you. Teach us to extend that same mercy to others, especially when we think they have failed. Amen.
