Magnitude of God's Glory in Everyday Occupations

The glory of God is a pervasive theme in biblical literature, encompassing His majesty, power, and works, and is intended to be declared and known throughout the earth ^{[1, 14]}. The heavens themselves are said to declare God's glory and handiwork ^[6]. This glory is described as great, eternal, rich, and highly exalted ^[1].

God's glory is exhibited in various aspects of His being and actions. It is seen in Christ, who is the brightness of God's glory and the express image of His person ^{[1, 7]}. The glory of Christ, as the only begotten of the Father, is equal to the Father's glory and endures forever ^[8]. God's glory is also manifested in His name, His majesty, His power, His works, and His holiness ^[1]. For instance, the works of the Lord are considered "great" and "honourable and glorious," displaying His power and wisdom in creation, providence, and redemption ^{[2, 9, 13]}. The Psalmist meditates on the "glorious majesty" of God's honor and His "wondrous works" ^{[3, 12]}.

The concept of God's glory extends to His attributes like mercy, which is described as great, rich, manifold, plenteous, abundant, sure, everlasting, and tender, filling the earth and delighting God ^[4]. Praise is due to God on account of His majesty, glory, excellency, greatness, holiness, wisdom, power, goodness, and mercy ^[5].

The ultimate aim is for the earth to be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord ^[10]. This includes the glory of Jesus Christ's person and office as Mediator, which is displayed in His faithful performance and the honor given to Him by the Father ^[10]. Believers are called to declare this glory among the nations, particularly the glory of the Messiah, as seen in the work of redemption where divine wisdom, power, justice, truth, faithfulness, love, grace, and mercy are richly displayed ^[11].
