Lucifer as the Archangel of Music in Scripture
The concept of Lucifer as the archangel of music is rooted in tradition and speculation, rather than clear biblical teaching. While Ezekiel 28:13 mentions that the king of Tyre was in Eden and had tambourines and pipes in his midst, some have mistakenly associated this with Lucifer, also known as Satan. Paul writes in Romans 8:28 that God works all things for the good of those who love Him, and this includes the use of music in worship, but it does not imply that Lucifer was an archangel of music.
This truth addresses the tendency to speculate about the nature and roles of angels, and instead, points to the biblical account of Satan's fall from his position as a beautiful and powerful creature. The Bible teaches that Satan was indeed a beautiful creature, but his beauty and power led him to pride and rebellion against God.
The gospel connection to this truth is that, despite Satan's fall and ongoing rebellion, God is still sovereign and works all things for the good of those who love Him. This truth should bring comfort and hope to believers, reminding them that God is in control, even in the face of spiritual opposition, and that music can be a powerful tool for worship and praise, when used to glorify God, as seen in Psalm 100:1-5, where believers are called to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
