Teaching and Discipleship Methods Based on Biblical Truth

Biblical truth serves as the foundational element for Christian teaching and discipleship methods, emphasizing both knowledge and obedience ^{[10, 13]}. The Scriptures are considered divinely inspired, given by God and the Holy Spirit, and were frequently appealed to and taught from by Christ himself ^[1]. Jesus taught "the way of God" without partiality ^[3], and his teachings form the curriculum for discipleship ^[13].

Discipleship involves more than intellectual assent to who Jesus is; it requires active obedience to his teachings ^{[10, 11]}. This includes continuing in his word, which is essential for being a genuine disciple ^{[11, 14]}. The truth found in Jesus brings freedom from darkness, falsehood, and sin ^[10]. Paul, appointed as a teacher of the Gentiles, emphasized teaching in "faith and truth" ^{[2, 5]}.

The content of biblical teaching encompasses various aspects of Christian conduct. This includes believing and fearing God, loving and obeying Him, and following His example ^[6]. Ministers are called to preach the Gospel "truly, sincerely, without any adulteration," as it comes from the "God of truth" and has Christ, who is the truth, as its subject matter ^[12]. This preaching is accompanied by the power of God for conversion and salvation ^[12]. Meekness is also a characteristic of biblical teaching, exemplified by Christ and expected of saints and ministers alike, particularly when instructing those who oppose ^[8]. Sincerity should characterize love for God and Christ, service to God, faith, love for one another, and the preaching of the gospel ^[9].
